Decorate Your Garden with Concrete Blocks

Do you believe that the cement is a very suitable material to decorate the garden? You will be amazed to see what you can create.

The concrete blocks that are normally used to build walls, load-bearing or not, can be easily used also to create benches, raised flower beds and pots to decorate your garden.

Typically using single-blocks to one, two or more holes and are just the cavities of the blocks to make this material very versatile because the holes can be made to pass small wooden joists, in case you wish to create the seat of a bench, or support poles of a fence, if we want to protect the raised flower bed used as a vegetable garden.

Their disadvantage is to have a little rustic look that may not appeal to everyone but, in combination with the right plants, or with the right coatings, can create very nice effects.

The advantage of the concrete blocks is that they have, in a sense, modular. The blocks can be easily stacked, even dry, to create structures where grow plants, both flowering vegetables that. If we want to create the benches it is instead better to tie the blocks with mortar to give more strength to the structure.

The gray color of the blocks goes well with any garden, but this does not mean that it should be maintained as such. For example, can play blocks with mosaics (maybe created with recycled tiles) or can be painted to give them a cleaner look and smooth that not even look out of place in a luxury villa garden. The combination of the gray color of the concrete and the yellow gold is another trend that gives the style blocks and personality.

As said, it is easy to stack the blocks, it requires little time and one not excessive effort. Wishing to create raised bed, for the cultivation of flowers or to be used as vegetable garden, it is not necessary to tie the blocks with the mortar, unless there are more than 50-70 cm in height; the only care is that the blocks staggered must be laid just as it does when it has to be pulled on a wall. The installation offset of the courses is what helps make solid structure, even in the absence of cementitious binder.

If having raised bed with a smooth wall is not to your liking try to insert, at times, in the wall, of the shot blocks sideways in such a way as to create the projections in which to place the small plants. Since the cables blocks are bottomless and therefore need to create one if you want to fill them with earth.

The plants most suitable for cultivation in the block cavities are certainly cacti and succulents in general, plants that require little water and little land.
